Cabins in Natural Wilderness

Wongari Eco Retreat is nestled in the foothills of the World Heritage Rainforests of the Boarder Ranges and Lamington National Park. The last six kilometers of our no-thru road is winding dirt, but all weather, and accessible to most vehicles. Wongari is midway and between two mountains. Across our part of Christmas Creek, Buchanans Fort rises to nearly eight hundred meters and behind us are the foothills of the McPherson Ranges.

There are two creeks on our property and they meet at the site of our guest cabin, Serenity. Bimbul, meaning Hoop Pine, is an invisible 150m past yet another creek crossing.

Christmas Creek is the common thread in our valley of about fourteen properties but Waterfall Creekoriginates behind us and starts quite dramatically from the Lamington Plateau in the form of Lamington Falls. It has an amazing 300m drop over three stages and passes exclusively thru Wongari. If you like your dips a little cool there are many swimming holes on its very rocky course down.

This creek effectively joins two national parks and it is our ambition to restore the creek and establish it as a wildlife corridor. It is an ambition almost realised. Water from Waterfall Creek is also the source of the water that drives our hydro-electric turbine. The 'powerspout' meets all the power needs of our latest eco-cabin, Bimbul.

Serenity and Bimbul are set within ten forested acres and boasts a private creek frontage under a vast canopy of trees. It adds up to an ideal way to relax and  retreat from the hustle and hassel of a busy and busier life. We invite you to take some time, soak in the natural surrounds and re-engage with life.
